Looking to jump into the win column, the 0-4 Eagles headed to Perry for the 2nd district game of the year. Both offenses stuttered stepped their way around the 1st quarter, having various solid opportunities to throw a right hook, but barely landed a jab. The second quarter saw much of the same, until the Eagles found their way into the redzone a few minutes before half, unfortunately they’d fumble away their opportunity (literally) and to half we went in a 0-0 ball game. The Eagles came out swinging in the 2nd, with a 5 minute touchdown drive courtesy of a Weston Smith score, and then a turnover that gave the boys the ball inside the Perry 45 with a 7 point lead. Nothing would succumb, but a defense stop lead to another nice drive, a big play to junior Jakob Johns allowed Gunnar Holder to fire a fade to Kevin Trillo for the 14-0 lead. Perry finally caught their footing, and would march down the field with force 2 times in a row to tie it up. On the goal line, the Eagles forced a turnover and sent the game to OT. Unfortunately, Perry tacked on 6 and the Eagles were stuffed. Sending them to 0-5 and back home next week for the rivalry HOCO game vs Chisholm.
