GRASS FIRE WEST OF TOWN
Hennessey Firefighters responded to a grass fire west of town Sunday, June 25th, at about 3 pm, 1/2 south of the intersection of Hwy 51 and N2780, (1 west of Hwy 132). The wheat field was being swathed for hay when it caught on fire but it was not clear how it started. A farmer was assisting by disking around the fire to stop it from spreading. Hennessey Firefighters called for mutual aid help from Okeene and Loyal but canceled shortly after because they had it under control quickly.
