THE HAT HAS ARRIVED!

It took an army of welders, riggers, trucks, police, fire, and a crane to move and mount what is being called “Oklahoma’s Biggest Cowboy Hat”. What started as an idea of Scott Hajek became reality with some oilfield scrap and imagination by Henry’s Welding in Hennessey.  The giant hat took several months to build and was moved into place Saturday (February 18th) by Liberty Lift with their giant crane.  The 24 ft. X 32 ft. all steel hat weighs in at 12,650 pounds and will offer shade over a picnic area in the dog park at the south end of Howdy’s Travel Plaza.

There are plans to submit it to the Genius World Book of Records as the world’s largest, all-steel cowboy hat.  The hat will be sandblasted and painted making it ready for the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Howdy’s next Saturday (February 25th) at 12 noon.
