The town of Hennessey has an RV and commercial sewage dump site located at the sewer lagoons on Cemetery Road. Recently it was closed due to rags and debris dumped, causing damage to the pumps in the lagoon system.
Trustee Harold Shaw said, “We are losing money by keeping this closed. It makes more money than it costs to make the repairs. Since 2019 it has made $74,000, costing us $43,000. It is making enough to keep it open and cover repairs.”
Also discussed was dumping without paying because the gate is unlocked. There was a brief discussion about securing the gate or installing a camera to monitor it. The correct procedure is to come to the town hall, pay a dump fee, get the key to the gate, dump, and return the key. The topic was tabled for an upcoming special meeting until they could gather information.
