Since she was five years old, Emily Faith wrote and performed music, starting with a hometown music competition. Emily is now 19 and has turned her passion into a full-time career that includes dozens of original songs and music videos.
This past October, she had the opportunity to try out for the TV show American Idol. Although she could not reveal too much about the show, she did give us some tidbits! Emily traveled to LA last October for the tryout and got accepted to be on the show.
The TV show was recorded in LA in front of the judges, including Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan. Emily said, “It was some of the most exciting, nerve-wracking days building up to the tryout. I got sick that week and worked to rest my voice for the performance.”
The first time she met the judges was when she stepped in front of them to sing. Emily said, “I was nervous, but the judges were great. They tried to make me comfortable. I have been performing on big stages and in front of a lot of people for a long time, so I was prepared.”
Emily sang Good Hearted Woman by Wayland Jennings for the judges but could not reveal if she got the “Golden Ticket” that would send her to Hollywood and the live show.
Emily grew up in Kingfisher, graduated from Kingfisher High School, and is now back in Norman attending OU Gaylord College Journalism/Public Relations/Pre Law. She will finish her sophomore year this semester. When not writing, singing, or being a TV star, Emily works part-time at Sanders Funeral Service in Kingfisher. She is currently Miss Tulsa and competes for Miss Oklahoma in June.
Emily said she met some amazing people while on this journey and has lots of content for new songs because of it. Emily is the daughter of Chad and Shelley Sanders. Her Grandfather is Rusty Sanders.
Emily will appear on American Idol at 7 pm this Sunday on ABC.
