Construction on the Hennessey Schools track is now in full swing. The problem now is the weather is not cooperating. A few weeks ago, the contractor, PCC Sports, removed all of the rubberized track surface. Last week they milled down, and removed all of the asphalt under the surface, then will cut down 6 inches of the soil and replace it with a new base material.
Other improvements include repairing the curbs around the track, Installing new takeoff boards on the long jump, and installing a new fence completely around the track area. Next, the contractor will lay down a new asphalt base around the entire track. It will then need to cure for about a month. The final stage will be to install the new rubberized running surface.
