Vincent Edwin Pribil

BISON

Funeral Mass for Vincent Edwin Pribil will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bison, OK.  Burial will follow at the Bison Cemetery.  A viewing will be at Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home in Hennessey, OK on Saturday, Sept 25 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM, and Monday from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.  A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, September 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bison. 

Vincent was born west of Bison to Joe A. and Rose Pribil on July 9, 1927, and died September 23, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, OK.  

Vincent grew up on the family farm west of Bison, OK.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe A. and Rose Pribil and Reverend Clement E. Pribil.  His sister, Cecilia Heffron is a resident of Maine.  He attended St. Joseph Catholic School for grades 2-8 and then Hennessey High School where he graduated in 1945.  

Shortly after he turned 18, he was drafted to serve in the US Army during World War II.  He attended basic training in the US Infantry Division at Fort Bragg, NC, and then got transferred to the artillery division at West Point, NY where he assisted with cadet artillery training until May 1946 at which time he was honorably discharged to come back home to resume work on the family farm.  

On September 5, 1951, he married Angelina Pacula of Hennessey, OK at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hennessey.  They lived and worked on the Pribil family farm ever since.

Vincent is survived by his wife, Angelina, and six sons, Gerald Pribil, wife Cindra and family of Bartlesville, OK, Alan Pribil, wife Bekki and family of Pratt, KS, Brian Pribil, wife Carey and family of Edmond, OK, Dwight Pribil of Stillwater, OK, Roger Pribil, wife Cindy and family of Hennessey, OK, and Chris Pribil, wife Roxana and family of Edmond, OK.   

Vincent was a beloved pillar of the Bison community and a frequent visitor to the Bison COOP to talk and tell stories with the other local farmers.  He was also a decades-long member of Council 1044 of the Knights of Columbus of Enid, OK.  He deeply loved his family and his family deeply loved him.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to Center of Family Love with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
