Services for J. R. Buford, 85 will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday June 1, 2021 at Hennessey Cemetery Pavilion officiated by Jimmy Berkenbile. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
J. R. was born at Lacy on January 6, 1936 to Orin J. and Blanche E. McGinnis Buford and died Monday May 24, 2021 at his home south of Ames.
He graduated from Lacy High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering. He was an Electronics Technician at Tinker Air Force Base for several years.
J. R. married Dorothy Dupy in Las Vegas, Nevada and they made their home on the farm.
He is survived by one son Robert Buford and Sherry of Ames; one daughter Tammy Breed and Mike of Newalla; one brother Clay Buford of Lacy; four granddaughters Shannon, Sebrina, Rachel, Linzie, and several great-grandchildren.
J. R. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, and one granddaughter Ericka Mooney Cook.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hennessey Public Library with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.
