FALLEN VETERANS OF OKLAHOMA

The 3rd Annual Red Dirt “Honor The Fallen” Run event took place this past Saturday, May 22nd. About 65 motorcyclists from all over the state left Enid and traveled to Hennessey’s Jack Toney’s farm.  Jack was awarded three Purple Hearts and two bronze stars during his tour of duty in Vietnam from 1969-1970. The group presented Jack with a custom made cup from a wood lathe made out of Purple Heart wood with his name, the WVO logo, and a Purple Heart medal.

The veterans then traveled to Kingfisher, Cashion, Crescent, Garber and the Elks Lodge in Enid where they held a  live and silent auction, as well as 50/50 drawings. There was also a cornhole tournament, meal and live band.

The FVOO uses this as a fundraiser for different activities they do throughout the year for veterans. The veterans also honored a fallen service man or woman at each stop during the ride.  You can donate to their organization at http://woundedveteransofoklahoma.org
