Fairview -Hennessey Eagles and Lady Eagles split their games in the opening round of the 2021 3-Rivers Conference Basketball Tournament, with the Lady Eagles dropping Game #1 to the Fairview Lady Jackets 40-33, and the Eagles cruising to a 66-35 victory over the Oklahoma Bible Academy Trojans in the second game of the day. The Lady Eagles trailed by 12 at the break, and battled back to trim the Lady Jacket lead to 1 point at 29-28 at the end of 3 quarters, before falling in the final frame. Gracie Mills led the 2nd half charge with 10 points over the final 2 quarters, including 6 of 9 from the free-throw line. Also on the board offensively for the Lady Eagles were Harlee Dowell and Juliana Macy with 2 points each, Yuridia Rios with 8, and Point Guard Kassidy Auburn adding 9 points that included 2 made 3-pointers. Lady Eagles drop to the Consulation Bracket, and will play at 12 noon on Friday versus this eveningโs loser between Cashion and Crescent. Coach Brady Page made sure his Eagles did not start off the tournament in the same sluggish way they began their previous game on Tuesday night at home versus Crescent. Juan Dominguez buried a 3 on the Eaglesโ opening possession against OBA, and that is the closest the score would ever be as the Trojans had no answer for the outside shooting of Dominguez and company, and the inside game of Freshman Jael Torres. JuanDo finished with a game high 22 points, staking an early lead for Tournament MVP. Torres followed with 12 in the paint, adding to the multi-layered attack from the starters that included 10 points from Chris Tovar, 8 from Wade Vinson, and 3 from Cristian Rodriguez. Adding to the 31 point victory were bench points from Seth Simunek with 5, Layton Choate 4, and defensive stopper Noah Moery knocking down a 3. Eagles move to the Championship Bracket of the 3RC Tournament and will play at 4:30 pm on Friday against the undefeated Watonga Eagles, who took down Class A #20 ranked Okarche Warriors.
