  • HENNESSEY ELEMENTARY COVID-19 PARENT GUIDE

HENNESSEY ELEMENTARY COVID-19 PARENT GUIDE

A Slow Roll is what we will implement:  If everything is running well without COVID 19 cases we will transition into more of our traditional guidelines and policies.  We will re-examine everything as the school year progresses. We are lucky to start the school year with our students. We do not want to go back to distance learning again. Our students can’t afford to lose an instructional year. We must do everything possible to ensure the safety of our students/staff and keep them on campus for learning. It may not be what we want with the restrictions in place, but we will have the students in the classrooms and actively learning.

Safe Practices Used in Our Elementary Building:

  • Practice Social Distancing 6ft at all times
  • Students, teachers, staff are to wear masks at all times except classroom instruction
  • Minimize cross-grade contamination at all times
  • Close student and staff gathering places
  • All communication about a sick child is between the school nurse, parent, and office staff
  • No lockers for 5th grade
  • Parents, volunteers, and visitors are not allowed in school at this time. Sorry
  • Parents that have essential business inside school will be allowed in school only after temp is taken and mask is worn
  • Handwashing and sanitizing will be implemented throughout the day
  • Limited physical touching of students
  • Traditional classroom seating facing front and 6 ft apart
  • Desk guards will be used at times as needed on a limited number
  • Limit classroom sharing of items and belongings
  • Stagger hallway travel times
  • Cancel all large group gatherings until further notice: Class Party, Field trips, Eagle Rally
  • Stagger all bathroom and drink breaks throughout the day 5-10 minutes each
  • Lanyards will be purchased to hold mask
  • Specific plans will be in place for students, classrooms, staff, and parents if a COVID 19 case happens in our school. Please refer to our district plan on our website.
  • Class Supply lists now include masks and water bottles. There will be no water fountains

Morning Arrival 7:40-8:15:

  • No Morning Recess
  • All students will get thermal scanned before entering the classroom
  • If a student does not eat breakfast, they need to go straight to their classroom
  • After a student eats breakfast they go straight to their classroom
  • 1 teacher per grade will be on duty @ 7:40 to watch grade level classrooms
  • Students will be dropped off at normal locations: Back gate, Side overhang by gym, and after 8:00 the front driveway
  • Breakfast line closes at 8:05
  • Students are tardy at 8:15

Classroom:

  • The school day will be scheduled for normal times and dates
  • Masks worn during Special Ed, Remediation, Library, STEM
  • Volunteers, parents, and visitors are not allowed in the school as of now
  • Students can bring snacks and drinks, but no sharing items with others

Lunch/Breakfast:

  • Lunch in the cafeteria with the staggered time schedule and staggered seating
  • Lunch recess as usual
  • No salad bar/fruit bar/slushy
  • Students will not go thru a lunch line. The treys will be waiting on the tables.
  • Breakfast table seating will be by grade levels
  • One option only for lunch
  • Students may bring their lunch and snacks but no sharing
  • At this time parents are not allowed to eat lunch with their child. Hopefully soon

Departure 3:00 – Fridays 2:00:

  • 3rd-5th car riders under side overhang by gym and spread out in gym
  • Bus Riders line up outside by their bus stop
