Graveside services for Roger Lee McEachern, Sr., 86 will be at 1:00 PM Friday March 20, 2020 at Walnut Valley Cemetery in El Dorado, Kansas. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.
Roger was born on June 18, 1933 on the farm north of Drury, Kansas to Malcolm and Glee Hunter McEachern and died at his home south of Hennessey Monday March 16, 2020.
Roger served in the US Army in Korea where he was a forward observer. He was wounded and battled frostbite. Roger was awarded the Bronze and Silver Star, along with the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged Sept. 2, 1953 but continued his service to his country by serving in the National Guard. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Shriner, a member of the Eastern Star, and the American Legion all in Kansas. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge in Enid.
He is survived by three sons James McEachern of Montgomery, Texas, Roger McEachern and wife Penny of Hennessey, Donald McEachern and wife Debbie of Bison; step-daughters Sharron Johnson and husband Brad of Branson, Missouri, Teresa Smith and husband Terry, step-son Armond Norris and wife Debbie, all of El Dorado, Kansas; three sisters JoAnn Wilder of Wichita, Jean Reeves of Colorado, Ethel Sparks of Caldwell, Kansas; one brother Johnny McEachern and wife Martha of Newton; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was the twelfth child of fifteen, six served in WWII, many in the Battle of the Bulge.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, two sisters and his wife Patricia.
