NEW HENNESSEY SCHOOLS ACTIVITY BUS

The Hennessey School Board voted at their regular meeting Monday evening to purchase a new activity bus. This will replace the old motor coach bus that has become troublesome and expensive to operate and maintain. The new bus is a 44 passenger, 2021 Freightliner with a diesel engine, air conditioning and hydraulic brakes. This will allow it to be driven without a CDL because it does not have air brakes. Superintendent, Dr. Mike Woods, explained, “This bus cannot be used as a route bus because it is white not yellow.” He also said, “The main reason I like this one over the other 2 bids received was it has a 360 camera that allows the driver to see all the way around the outside of the bus on a monitor for safety.” The bus has outside storage compartments underneath and overhead compartments inside. Dr. Woods said “Delivery of the bus would take about 90 to 120 days.” Photo is an example, not the actual bus.
