GRASS FIRE GETS SCARY

Hennessey Fire Fighters responded to a run-away grass fire about noon, September 9, 2021, about 2 ¾ east of Hennessey on Hwy 51.   The fire started while cutting milo in a field south of Ray Shimanek’s home and quickly advanced north towards their home and barns.   When the fire reached the back of the barn area, it caught a burn pit on fire.  Heavy black smoke came from tires, wood, and hay bales.  The Hennessey Fire Fighters were able to keep the fire contained and away from any structures.
