If you’ve been with us for very long at all, you probably know we looove Fall and neither of us are named Spring but, we adore it just the same. As much as we might fight for control and struggle with change in our lives ~ our favorite seasons of nature are the seasons of change. Fall when everything is settling in and getting cozy in preparation for winter. Spring when everything is waking up and ushering in more light, warmth and growth. We’re fast approaching the Spring Equinox, y’all, the sun won’t set before 6pm until November! We’ve nearly officially made it through the winter! <All God’s people who are essentially anxiety-riddled houseplants that need water and sunlight said, “Amen!” haha>
One of the most common things generally inspired by this season is spring cleaning. We’d like to encourage you to “spring clean” not only your home but also your mindset.
Dust off the cobwebs in your mind. Stop doing things the same way just because it’s the way you’ve always done them. If something no longer works for you or could be made more simple ~ use this season of transition as your chance to make a change. Maybe it’s an adjustment to your wake-up or going to bed time. Maybe it’s finding a healthy balance in the number of things you say ‘yes’ to. Maybe it’s adding something to or limiting something in your diet. Maybe it’s planning ahead/setting yourself up for success instead of for stress: laying your clothes out the night before, setting your coffee maker to brew so sleepy-you doesn’t have to deal with it or planning meals ahead of time… dare we say even actual meal prepping? Don’t cringe or panic! It doesn’t have to be extravagant! Nor does it mean you have to spend your life in a gym. Meal prepping isn’t just for the super fit, super disciplined people. It’s for anyone that would like to streamline their lives! Simplifying your day by having one less thing to do or decision to make (especially a decision to make while hungry!) is so helpful and easier than you think! You just need a protein, a veggie and maybe a carb or grain to help fill you up.
A little bit of planning + work and you’ll practically be a cross-fitter. LOL Just kidding!! You will probably feel empowered though! Like you’re really on top of your life and, that’s a good start!
When you have a few convenient meals to take to work/grab on the go/feed yourself without getting decision fatigue or to pull out of the fridge when your family keeps asking what’s for dinner (making you want to cry), you will thank yourself for that forethought and prep work. And hey, one good change invites another, right? With the time you’re saving by meal prepping, perhaps you can devote some time to a more typical spring cleaning task or plant something or spruce things up with a DIY project or just get outside and enjoy the fresh air!
Simple/À la carte meal prep style :
Your choice of protein
Your choice of vegetable (or fruit)
(Summer’s fav is any roasted veggies)
Your choice of carb/grain
Small changes do make a difference, so pick 1 small change for this spring and allow yourself to feel accomplished. Thank you for sticking with us through the seasons!
