Stacy (Smith) Sturgill was born and raised in Hennessey, OK, by her parents Jerry and the late Marilyn Smith. She has two sisters, Sherri Fipps and Ronda Creevan. Stacy graduated from Hennessey High School in 2000. After graduation, she attended the Autry Dental Assisting Program from 2001 to 2002.
In 2002, Stacy met Sheldon Sturgill through mutual friends when he moved to Hennessey from Hickory, NC, to work for Morgan Dollar Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. They married on March 8, 2003, and have been together for over 22 years. Sheldon is the son of Greg (Tammy) Sturgill of Pikeville, KY, and Rachel Sturgill of Narrows, VA.
After their marriage, Stacy and Sheldon moved to Eolia, KY, where Sheldon is originally from. During this time, Stacy was a stay-at-home mom for several years before starting her career in home health at Appalachian Regional Healthcare. They lived in Kentucky for seven years before returning to Hennessey due to the slowdown in the coal industry.
Upon returning to Hennessey, Stacy worked for four years at the Hennessey Early Childhood Center as a teacher’s aide. She is currently the Head Start teacher at Big Five Community in Hennessey and is also attending college at Northern Oklahoma College (NOC) to obtain her associate degree in Early Childhood Education. Sheldon has worked in the oilfield for 15 years and is a service technician for Imperative Chemical.
Stacy and Sheldon have four sons: Keeton and his wife Kacie, Regan, Blaney, and Tryson. Stacy loves spending time with her boys, watching Tryson and Blaney play football, and supporting Blaney in his band performances and racing. She enjoys baking, cooking for her family, gardening, decorating, and spending time with the kids in her class. Her passion for gardening was inspired by her father, who grew an exceptional garden, and she has passed that love on to Tryson.
Stacy always has a smile and a hug for everyone she meets. She welcomes her sons’ friends into her home and treats them like her own. You will not find a more loving, caring, and supportive person than Stacy. To be her friend or to know her is truly a gift.
