Donald Anthony Houska

BISON – Donald Anthony Houska was born in Lacey, Oklahoma to John and Lucille Houska on December 31, 1939 and died Tuesday October 4, 2022 at the age of 82.

A wake service will be held at 6:00 PM Monday October 10, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bison. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Tuesday October 11, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bison. Cremation arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home, Hennessey.

He graduated from Hennessey High School in May 1957. Following high school he worked at a dental lab in Enid until 1962. At the age of twenty-one he entered the U. S. Navy and was stationed on Nantucket Island and served on the aircraft carrier USS Wasp with the rank of Petty Officer Third Class Electrician’s Mate. He was aboard the aircraft carrier when President Kennedy was assassinated.

In the late 1960’s he attended Oklahoma State University and received an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then worked for National Cash Register Co. in Enid. Since then, he has devoted his life to farming which he enjoyed the most.

He remained single, but always said he kept looking.

Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus as an Associate with the Adorers of the Blood of Christ.

He is survived by two sisters, Sister Angela Houska of Wichita, Kansas, Flo Vasquez of Waukomis; one niece Michelle Scott and husband Randall of Waukomis, and one great-nephew Landen Scott and wife Danielle of Oklahoma City.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ronald John Houska.

The family extends special thanks to the Integris Staff, Golden Oaks, and the staff of Hospice Circle of Love.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Joesph’s Church with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund
