The funeral for Gregory Allen Melendy, 57 will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, December 30, 2021, at First Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Mickey Moery and Rev. Ish Engle. Burial will follow at Ames Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. The service will be live-streamed on the Cordry-Gritz Facebook page.
A viewing will be from 3:00-8:00 PM Wednesday.
Greg was born in Enid on January 8, 1964, to Allen and Maxine Melendy and died Monday, December 27, 2021.
He was raised on the family farm west of Hennessey and graduated from Hennessey High School in 1982 and attended Oklahoma State University where he graduated in 1986.
Greg married Tawna Clymer in Hennessey on December 24, 1991.
He is survived by his wife Tawna of the home; his children Erin Wuffenstein and husband Gary, Corey Melendy and wife Jessica, and Levi Melendy; parents Allen and Maxine Melendy; two grandsons Zander Melendy, Greyson Melendy, one granddaughter Jaden Wuffenstein; four great-grandchildren; and one sister Amy Barringer and husband Edward.
Greg was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John and Helen Melendy, maternal grandparents Hubert and Mildred Hand, and two infant brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First Christian Church with the Funeral Home serving as custodian of the fund.
