John Mark Pollard

Enid

John Mark Pollard died of pancreatic cancer July 12, 2021 at the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City.  He was born April 7, 1957 in Enid to Loren E. Pollard and Marjorie A. (Brown) Pollard.

John Mark attended 1st and 2nd grades at Marshall and 3rd through 7th grades at Dover.  He then transferred to Hennessey to play football from 8th grade until he graduated in 1975.  He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1979 majoring in Animal Science.  John Mark was a member of the OSU Flying Aggies and was awarded Outstanding Male Pilot in 1977.  He was also a member of the OSU Baptist Collegiate Ministry. John Mark married the love of his life, Sherri Newell of Marshall on May 28th, 1979. During his junior year of college John Mark purchased the land and house where he and Sherri would raise three wonderful children during the first eighteen years of their marriage.  In 1996 John Mark made a major jump in his career by becoming a financial advisor.  He started with Merrill Lynch and was recruited by UBS several years later.  Then Wachovia came calling who later became Wells Fargo where he finished his career.  John Mark was a member of the Enid Rotary Club and was a member of First Baptist Church of Enid.  Several years ago, John Mark started farming again, this time with his son for which they formed J & J Pollard Farms, LLC.

John Mark was preceded in death by his parents.  Surviving are his wife Sherri of Enid, daughter Candice Webb and husband Jason of Cashion, son Jarod Pollard and his wife Kate of Mulhall, daughter Kristin Ritz and her husband Brett of Edmond, brother Steve Pollard and wife Sharon, sister Marsha Schubert, grandchildren Callie Seiger and future grandson Zane Hugaboom, Ali and Embrie Ritz, Jolee Pollard, Olivia Webb, and mother in law Carolyn Newell of Marshall.

The service will be 10:00am Tuesday, July 20th at First Baptist, 220 S. Grand in Crescent. Arrangements are by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund. A family visitation will be Monday, July 19th from 5-7pm at Cordry-Grtiz Funeral Home.
