OVERNIGHT HOUSE FIRE DISPLACES FAMILY

Hennessey fire fighters responded to a truck and house fire at 321 E. Colorado St. about  midnight, Monday, April 26.  When they arrived the rear of the home was engulfed in flames as well as a pickup truck.  The renters of the home, Eldon and Stefanie Pitts said, “I heard the tires and glass breaking and woke to flames outside.”  The Pitts and their 2 children escaped without injury’s and spent the night with family.  The late model Ford pickup was made out of aluminum and had to be extinguished with foam.  One fire fighter said, “That aluminum kept popping and restarting”.  The townhomes are owned by Christopher Choate and are insured.  Fire damage to the home was limited to a back bedroom but the entire apartment had significant smoke and water damage.
