Marjorie Louise (Smith) Bryan Obituary

Hennessey

Marjorie Louise (Smith) Bryan was born November 15, 1930 and she passed away peacefully at her home on December 19, 2020. A memorial service will be held later in the spring so that her loving family and dear friends can celebrate her long and blessed life. Viewing for Marjorie will be Sunday December 20, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.

Marjorie was born in Atlanta, Kansas to Roy D. and Grace (Manly) Smith, and graduated from high school in Burden, Kansas.  She married her high school sweetheart, Bruce Bryan, on May 10, 1952.  They lived in San Antonio, Texas while Bruce served in the military.  As Bruce continued his education and furthered his career, they lived in Burden, Winfield, Emporia, Salina, Derby and El Dorado, Kansas, as well as Ponca City and Okeene, Oklahoma, settling in Hennessey in 1973.  Everywhere they lived, Marjorie was active in the community and schools.  She always left behind a network of friends that she stayed in touch with over the course of many years.

Marjorie was active in the Child Study Club, United Methodist Women and American Legion Auxiliary.  But her first and foremost calling was raising her 4 children, helping raise her 9 grandchildren and enjoying her 11 great grandchildren.  Marjorie was a true follower of Jesus, with actions even more than words.  During her entire 90-year life, she always put others first and set an example of kindness, strength and courage for her family to follow.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 57 years, Bruce, and her great granddaughter, Kate.

She will be missed by her sister, Marilyn Watt of Cambridge, Kansas; her children: Robert Bryan (Brenda) and David Bryan (Linda) of Hennessey, Cheryl Bryan (John Bizzell) of Enid, and Lisa Fuzzell (James) of Fairview;  her grandchildren: Jennifer Porter (Kyle), Lindsey Bryan, Jessica Gerth (Creston), Joshua Bryan (Bri), Angela Long (Zachary), Michael Sasaki, Bryan Curry (Carly), Matthew Curry (Lauren), and Alex Curry (Lorene); and 11 great grandchildren:  Hannah, Jude, Jack and Sadie Porter; Connor, Jovie and Camden Gerth; Logan and Livie Bryan; Sophia Curry and Isabel Curry.  She will also be missed by many other family members and friends.

Her family would like to thank her caregivers, Marilyn Choate and the ladies from Care at Home health care services, who helped keep her comfortable and safe in her home for the last 3 years.  We very much appreciate everything that you did for her.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hennessey United Methodist Church or the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
