What started as a well-planned overnight water repair turned into a nightmare for the Hennessey water department. The plan was to work through the night and install a new valve at the base of the water tower. This repair would allow them to turn off the water tower when major repairs are done to the system allowing water pressure to return quicker. Grade Works Construction worked with the Hennessey water dept to prepare the site the day before. They turned off the water at 10pm and the plan was to have it back on at 6am. As the sun came up it was clear the water was not close to coming on. They came across several additional pipes and valves that needed attention. As the morning went on it was clear that there would be no water by noon so the school decided it would dismiss class at 11am. By now these guys have been working for more than 24 hours without sleep in knee deep mud. Finally at about 12:30 they completed the repair and the water was restored.
