COVID-19 CASES IN HENNESSEY

We are aware that there has been a significant rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in our community over the past week.

Town Administrator Tiffany Tillman has been in contact with Dr. Mike Woods, Hennessey school superintendent regarding the number of exposures seen in HPS students.

Additionally, Mayor Bert Gritz has spoken with Dr. Charles Ferrell regarding the number of cases in Hennessey. Mayor Gritz has also been in contact with Jill Vincent, RN, Director of Nursing at Hennessey Care and Rehab Center due to the increased number of cases at the Center.

At this time, the Town is encouraging all residents to be diligent in taking the proper steps to help slow the spread of the virus. These steps include the use of masks when in close contact with others, or in large groups or gatherings, proper handwashing using an anti-bacterial hand soap and washing thoroughly under warm water for a period of at least twenty seconds. The use of hand sanitizer also helps in the prevention of spreading the virus. Additionally, physical distancing is important. Try to maintain a distance of at least six feet from others.

Should someone come in contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid-19, it is important to self-quarantine and immediately seek advice from a medical professional.

Gritz said he and Town Administrator Tillman are watching the numbers daily and will continue to monitor the situation very closely and will keep in contact with state and local heath authorities.
